For days I mulled over the prospect. All I could hear at times was that contrary voice in my head telling me that no one wanted to hear what I had to say, emphasizing that what I actually wanted to say was not important. I even fed into that for a moment with silent agreement. Then one morning I stood in the mirror and said to myself that if what I had to say wasn’t that important for anyone else to hear I still needed to say it out loud so that I could get past my own limitations. So I woke up early, put on my makeup (as part of my daily routine) as I played some motivating music and I decided to introduce myself LIVE on IG. I didn’t know how to save a video back then, if they even had that option, so we’re not able to mull over the technical errors or imperfections of that introductory LIVE event. All I have to hold on to is the fact that I overcame my fear by facing it head on and that I’ve lived to tell all about it in more than a hundred live videos since then. (Cue: Happy dance!!! If you know me, then you know that I love to celebrate every little thing, so, celebrate with me 😊)
In March of 2020 when COVID-19 hit the United States, the country went into a National Quarantine as each State took measures to lockdown public activities (including business operations). I had just registered my new business, MarimorLife LLC, in January 2020, only two months prior. Suddenly, the big promotional plans I had for in-office events and face to face meetings were shut down. So, I had to rethink how I was going to connect with my prospective clients.
Having experienced several traumas during my lifetime I felt especially sensitive about the impact that this situation would create. As a matter of fact, the work that I’ve done to overcome those challenges personally is precisely the basis for the business and the mission that I have embraced through the establishment and growth of MarimorLife LLC. So, I challenged myself to begin speaking out about the trauma that was, to me, an obvious consequence of the measures to slow down and bring to an end the spread of COVID-19 and the effects these actions would have on every level including: mental, emotional, spiritual, physical and financial.
Honestly, I spent those first opportunities sharing some very personal information about the process that I went through in my own healing. I did that because I wanted to connect with those who shared my perspective and experiences while enlightening those who may not have the same exposure. As the months have gone by we’ve all seen a shift to what has been identified as “the new normal”. However, rather than simply allow this shift to be completely determined for me by those in government and on the news, I decided to create my own new normal, as the entrepreneur that I am, and also to support others through the process, because I love to serve. Thus #MindfulMoneyMoment was born out of the need for a structure under which to curate more conversations to put these living concepts and ideas into context.
This is all about helping women to understand how our emotions effect our money management so that we’re able to make better decisions, create better habits and improve our quality of life to fulfill our purpose. So, each week I have one or more guests come to discuss Mindset & Money Management by sharing not only what we can do but how we can do it. I believe it’s not just about the conversation but the actions that take place in the follow up. As we discuss the five areas of mindset and the five areas of money management, I hope to encourage and influence everyone in the audience to feel empowered and confident enough to use the tools they can access for their own benefit first, and then to benefit others who share that desire.
So by all means, I invite you to take a look at @marimorlife across social media and connect.
